N57 Weak-Point Analysis
1,3-1,5 bar
more reserve with a warm engine at low rpm instead of continuing to run in the critical range.
5-6 bar
the regulation cleanly limits the upper range for everyday drivability.
Plug & Play
near-OE solution in the original position, without improvised add-ons.
Basis: Pierburg N57D30C, adapted by MIK for the critical everyday range.
Your N57 wears before you hear the damage.
Warm daily use
The critical phase is low engine speed.
Many engines become vulnerable exactly there: warm, low rpm, high mileage. In this range, bearings, chain and oil-pump drive lose reserve even though the engine can still feel normal.
Low engine speedIdle to 2,500 rpm
This low-rpm range decides whether the engine still gets enough reserve in daily use.
After the upgrade
More reserve is available where it matters low down.
The MIK pump works where the aged standard setup gets weak: warm engine and low rpm. That is the range where the engine suffers most in everyday use.
After the upgradeReserve in the warm operating range
Why MIK does not just fit standard parts on the N57
The weak point often shows up late.
Wear does not always announce itself loudly. Bearings, chain or oil-pump drive can already be under stress while the engine still feels normal in daily use.
MIK assesses the engine condition.
Instead of blindly fitting standard parts, the condition is assessed: mileage, noises, chain, bearing picture and warm running behavior. That turns a parts swap into useful prevention.
The upgrade pump does not just replace. It improves.
The solution stays close to the original setup, sits in the original position and is designed around the known N57 weak point.
In the end, what matters is a clean-running N57.
After installation, the system is checked to make sure everything works cleanly. You are not just buying an off-the-shelf part, but an upgrade designed around the known weak point.

Plug & Play
original position, no improvised workaround
A replacement pump replaces. The MIK pump addresses the weak point.
The difference is not the name on the box. It is the adaptation for the N57. That is where it is decided whether the engine keeps enough reserve over time.

Questions before you order?
MIKN57BMWChecked by engine rebuild specialists
If the engine code, variant or installation is unclear, send us the VIN or an engine photo. We will confirm the correct solution.
Does the pump fit my N57?
If your vehicle matches the selected variant above, the pump is intended for this engine. If you are unsure, we will check the VIN or an engine-code photo.
When should I stop driving the car?
If there is a warning message, constant rattling, knocking or metal particles in the oil, do not keep driving. First clarify the cause instead of blindly replacing parts.
Why is this better than a standard pump?
A standard pump only restores the stock state. The MIK upgrade pump is designed around the critical range where many higher-mileage engines lose reserve.
Can MIK install the pump as well?
Yes. MIK can supply or install the pump. With installation, the engine is also checked for clean operation.
Häufige Fragen zu Upgrade Oil Pump for BMW N57 — Prevent Engine Damage from Oil Pressure Drop
How can I find out whether I have this engine?
Check your vehicle registration document - field 5 (engine capacity) should show 2993 cm³. You can find the engine code stamped on the engine block next to the oil filter housing, or in the CoC certificate under field 0.2.
Does the engine need to be dismantled?
The engine stays in the car. But the front timing chain cover must be removed - this is several hours of workshop labor. On some N57 variants, the engine must also be separated from the transmission (the "closed" variant in the variant selection).
Why is this pump better than a standard replacement part?
Because it is the only upgrade pump on the market that actively increases oil pressure at idle - to a stable 1.3-1.5 bar when the engine is at operating temperature. The integrated pressure relief valve regulates the maximum pressure to 5-6 bar, without an additional oil filter housing. It is based on the strongest standard Pierburg pump (N57D30C). Standard replacement pumps only replace the old pump with an identical new one - they do not prevent the pressure drop caused by wear.
What about the M50d (tri-turbo, 381 hp)?
It fits - we supply the correct variant via the variant selection above. If you're unsure, just call us on 0542 1614433.
What happens if I do nothing?
On an N57 with low oil pressure at idle, lubrication of the connecting rod bearings and the timing chain becomes critical. The result can be bearing damage, timing chain damage, rattling noises and, in the worst case, catastrophic engine failure. Exactly when that will happen cannot be predicted - the recommendation is: act before symptoms appear, not after.
Do you offer B2B terms for workshops?
Yes, B2B terms are available from 5 units. Inquiries to b2b@mikmotoren.de.
Where can I find my engine code?
The code is stamped on the engine block next to the oil filter housing (e.g. "N57D30C"). Alternatively, it can be found in the CoC certificate under field 0.2 or in the vehicle registration document.
What does "Easy Check owner" mean in the variant selection?
If you already own our EasyCheck oil pressure measuring device or have ordered it as well, the pump replacement is available at a reduced variant price. In that case, select the appropriate "for Easy Check owners" variant.
What is the difference between "open (plug-in)" and "closed" in the variant selection?
On some N57 variants, the pump chain is accessible from the outside ("open / plug-in") - this makes the job easier. On others, the engine must be separated from the transmission to access the pump ("closed"). Which variant your vehicle has depends on the model and year of manufacture - if you're unsure, just call 0542 1614433.
