Founded in Dissen a.T.W.

The maintenance and repair of engines began around 2011 in a small outbuilding of a local car workshop in the town of Dissen am Teutoburger Wald, where we had been renting until then. We started as a two-man operation, performing repairs mainly on VW engines (VR6, 16V, G60) alongside our training. The engines, which were considered prone to issues at the time, gave us the opportunity to quickly gain extensive experience in engine construction. We sold the engines online on well-known platforms. The driving force was already an exceptionally high quality compared to the competition. For this reason, we considered it essential to have all work carried out in-house, and so the machinery fleet grew quite rapidly. We purchased older machines from workshops in the surrounding area. Many repairers had already reached a considerable age and were completely overwhelmed by the sales opportunities offered by the internet. This created a niche for MIK Motoren, where we have remained to this day.

Bad Laer

After gaining our first experiences in the automotive business and as the website brought in more and more orders, the 80m² at the first location quickly became too small, and we moved along with all the machines to nearby Bad Laer. Here, we rented a hall of about 300m² and had enough space to acquire more machines as well as our own lift. Finally independent from other automotive workshops, we expanded the product portfolio and from here on offered engine service for several manufacturers. Soon, the manpower of the 2-person operation was no longer sufficient, and employees were sought and hired in the area of engine repair. We began preparing exchange engines and offering them online as exchange deals. The so-called exchange engines give customers the opportunity to quickly receive a replacement unit in case of engine damage, to rebuild their attached parts such as the transmission 1 to 1, and to return the old remaining engine to us only after the repair. We have maintained this business model to this day and thus offer our customers the best service!

Dissen a.T.W.

In 2016, we took the opportunity to move again. This time no longer renting, but owning. The new premises were not to be significantly larger, but much more comprehensive with a separate office, social rooms, and a private restroom. We also began to structure and set up the new workshop according to the individual work processes. For the first time, the departments of disassembly, cleaning, processing, and assembly were established, which still exist today. The assembly area was designed to be particularly elaborate and clean. The place where the engines are assembled should be as tidy and separated from all other work areas as possible to ensure the highest level of cleanliness and thus quality. We started hiring more employees and further training them in master courses. At peak times, we employed up to 9 staff at our rather modest location in Dissen a.T.W., laying the foundation for what we are today!

At the beginning of 2018, we decided to relocate once again. The workshop, which until then was located in a residential area, had obviously become too small and was quickly overwhelmed by the daily business. In addition, the heavy truck traffic for the delivery and pickup of engines was no longer manageable in a mutually agreeable way. It was time to further expand the business, and we acquired a commercial hall from 2008 to completely remodel it according to our needs. Today, a cleanroom of nearly 90m², alongside a machine room, a washroom, and a car workshop with a total of 5 lifts and a performance test bench, offers enough space to meet the growing demands of our customers. 12 employees strive daily to provide you with the perfect all-around service. Meanwhile, our machinery has grown to the point where we can offer almost every service in the field of engine repair.

See for yourself! We look forward to your visit!
