1st Generation - 2.0 TFSI Engine

"The 2.0 TFSI engine of the first generation marked a significant advancement over the popular 1.8T engine. This engine introduced gasoline direct injection, an innovation that earned it the name TFSI (Turbocharged Fuel Stratified Injection). The direct injection allowed for more efficient combustion, making the engine more powerful and economical compared to its predecessor. It was equipped with a timing belt and used in numerous models from VW, Audi, Seat, and Skoda, as well as in motorsport, including KTM and various Formula racing series.

Despite its advancements, the engine had a significant weakness: the oil pump. This was connected to a balance shaft module and could not deliver enough oil to the individual bearing points, leading to recurring bearing damage. To address this issue, a MIK update was developed that effectively resolves this weakness and significantly improves the reliability of the engine. This update is now available for affected models and helps ensure the longevity and performance of the 2.0 TFSI engine."

Better than New!

The work carried out on this engine includes not only the renewal of all wear parts and seals, as well as the machining of all sealing and running surfaces, but also the replacement of components that are factory-fitted with weaknesses and the Drastically shorten the lifetime of the motor.

All components are cleaned using ultrasonic technology, ensuring they are completely free of residues. A list of the performed inspection and repair work can be found in the section on overhaul scope. We only use replacement parts of original equipment manufacturer quality.

When overhauling these engines, it is essential to ensure that all factory weaknesses are addressed. so that the lifetime of the motor is maximized.

Oil pump

The Achilles' heel of the 2.0 TFSI engine of the first generation is its oil pump, which, in conjunction with a so-called balance shaft module, does not generate sufficient oil pressure and is prone to total failures. Without adequate oil pressure, error messages, rattling noises, and loss of power quickly become apparent, always leading to engine damage. Therefore, we rely on a specially developed oil pump, which is installed in each of our projects.

Warehouse damage

Since almost all engines fail with a major main or connecting rod bearing damage at low mileage due to lack of oil pressure or poor maintenance (improper oil cooler replacement), we have developed a process with which we can repair the main bearing channel of the EA113 engine. With the help of an improved oil pump, we then ensure sufficient oil pressure and maximum lifetime. This repair is only part of a complete overhaul!

Lagerschaden

Piston

In comparison to its predecessors, the EA113 engine is prone to piston damage in the ring area. It is not uncommon for the first generation of the 2.0 TFSI engine to consume a lot of oil, putting a strain on its own components, especially pistons and valves. Reinforced pistons in excess, special piston rings, and a precisely honed cylinder surface provide a remedy.
